Park Gallery

Information:

Orangevale Community Park is a 76 acre community park with three distinct recreation areas: The Shady Oaks Disc Golf Course, the Main Park Entrance (Oak & Filbert), and the Horse Arena.

Shady Oaks Disc Golf Area:

The Shady Oaks Disc Golf Course, located at 7208 Hazel Avenue. This area of the park includes a parking lot (56 spaces), 18 Hole Disc Golf Course, Final 9 Sports Pro Shop Concession, two tennis courts, a nature area & trail, entry to the Pasteur Middle School soccer & baseball fields, a shade structure (4 tables w/ BBQ), and public restrooms.

May contain: shelter, outdoors, building, architecture, and housing

Main Park Area:

The Main Park Entrance (Oak & Filbert), located at 7301 Filbert Avenue. This area includes a parking lot off Filbert Ave. (64 spaces), gravel parking lot (off Oak Ave.),  soccer field, playground with swings, group picnic shelter (12 tables w/ large BBQ), family picnic shelter (4 tables next to playground w/ BBQ), natural area w/ informal trails, and public restrooms.

Fitness Area:

Located near the playground on Oak Ave.  The five pieces of equipment include a back extension, a vertical press, an upright bike, a sit-up bench, and a tai-chi station. Check out the fitness guide advertised in the column to the right.

Horse Arena Area:

The Horse Arena, located behind Green Oaks School at 7145 Filbert Avenue. This area includes a parking lot (56 spaces), horse arena, warm-up arena, announcer booth, grand stand, picnic pavilion (6 tables with large BBQ), soccer fields, amphitheater (w/ electricity), stone amphitheater (seating for 50+) and public restrooms.

The most unique aspect of the park is the natural area in the northwest area of the park. This area is crisscrossed by meandering equestrian and pedestrian trails and by two tributaries to Linda Creek. Several habitat types can be identified in this small plot: open grassland, with a scattering of Blue Oaks; oak grassland more heavily wooded, predominantly with Live Oaks; and oak woodland/riparian along the creek. A small number of “heritage” Valley Oaks are found in the area which are 60 inches or greater in circumference. An assortment of native plants also grows here, including perennial bunch grasses and purple milkweed.

This park is very well located; with Casa Roble High School to the northeast, Green Oaks Elementary School to the east, and Louis Pasteur Middle School adjoining the park to the south.
